Monograms are one of our favorite things at The Event Group. We love to recommend that the client personalize their wedding, and a monogram is one way to achieve this. They can be incorporated into any aspect of an event, from the napkins to the cuff links to the dance floor to the bride’s veil to the aisle runner – and everything in between. The options are literally limitless for where you can use a monogram.
To begin, here is a basic guide to the types of monograms you can use – remember that font matters when trying to set the tone for your embellishments!
Pre Wedding Monograms
Many brides use monogrammed gifts as the perfect way to personalize something for their bridesmaids. We love the custom hangers for their bridesmaids’ dresses or the silk robes embroidered with their monograms.
We love these cozy pajama bottoms as an option too!
Or stick to a classic jewelry piece.
Give them something they can use after the wedding – and don’t forget to get one for yourself as well!
For the Ceremony
You can incorporate the groom into the monogram theme as well – with suspenders, shirt cuff or cuff links.
A veil is a perfect place to add monograms – even adding past wedding dates and monograms of family members.
Add a “Something New” to your bridal bouquet with a custom wrap it in your wedding colors.
Have a custom aisle runner created with your monogram as a couple.
Incorporate them into your ceremony programs.
During the Reception
There are many different ways to add them into your reception.
Embellish the dance floor with your monogram – you can use a spotlight for it or have it decal made.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has a string of Broadway shows and ballets, especially around Feb 14. Classics such as Beauty and the Beastas well as My Fair Lady, are playing throughout the holiday weekend.
Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to try that new restaurant you’ve been meaning to check off your list – but make sure you make your reservation well in advance because they book up quickly! Some of our favorite restaurants, such as Altius, Eleven, Il Pizzaiolo, and Sienna Sulla Piazza take reservations via the popular app, Open Table. Other places, such as Butcher and the Rye only take reservations via phone.
See the sites of the city to get the romance started with your loved one.
Take in the breathtaking view from Mt. Washington with a ride on the Duquesne Incline … either during the day or at night, the view is spectacular is gives you an awesome photo opportunity for some great shots!
Explore the city by taking a tour of the local breweries during the day with the Pittsburgh Brew Tours company. Start in the East End Growler Shop then move onto the Penn Brewery and finish with Church Brew Works! It’s all in a day’s fun in Pittsburgh.
Learn a new skill with a couple’s cooking class. Several places around the city are offering classes throughout the weekend, or give the class to your sweetheart as a gift for a date another night. Gayner’s School of Cooking on the Southside offers couples cooking classes on Valentine’s Day as well as a Wine and Mixology night, which is offered the weekend after Valentine’s Day. Gift certificates can also be purchased if you are not sure which class to sign up for. Other places that offer classes and gift certificates include Chop Wok Talk, an ethnic cooking school, and Rania’s Catering.
Or try something new by taking a glass blowing class at the Pittsburgh Glass Center, where you can create memories of a new experience. On Friday, Feb 13, the center is offering classes to make a heart-shaped pendant or Valentine’s flower, for a price of $25 or $35. We love this idea to try something new and exciting with your loved one that’s complete with a memento!
