Kleinfeld’s

If you’ve ever seen an episode of TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress, then you may be familiar with Kleinfeld’s, a New York City bridal boutique located in the Chelsea area of the city. While in New York, we took a trip to visit Kleinfeld’s and got an incredible behind the scenes tour of the boutique.

Once you have entered, you walk into a beautiful sitting area where you can wait for your appointment to begin. Each appointment is an  hour and a half. Dresses are priced starting at $2,500. Kleinfeld’s recommends no more than four people at your appointment.

The salon area is large and open with lots of great lighting. There is plenty of seating for your party and raised platforms with mirrors so you are able to see yourself while trying on dresses.

Something that we thought was really cool was that they offer video cameras for family members who are unable to make the appointment. This video camera can connect the bride-to-be with her family so she can show off her dress!

The downstairs level is shoe heaven – they have many brands and styles. Not to mention, they also have a fabulous jewelry selection as well as gorgeous evening bags!

Besides the beautiful heels, we especially loved that they also had flat options. These metallic Jimmy Choo sandals are the perfect thing to change into so you can dance all night!

They have a separate room just for embroidery, lace and beading. All of the detail work on their dresses is done by hand.

Kleinfeld’s also does all of the dress alterations in-house. Because a dress requires several fittings, you are matched with an alterations specialist, and you meet with her each time to ensure a perfect fit!

So, if you are in New York City and looking for a wonderful place to shop for a bridal gown, Kleinfeld’s is a great option!

Fall Drinks

Fall is the perfect time to try new cocktails, so whether you are having an engagement party, a wedding or even a small dinner party, there is an appropriate cocktail for any occasion. We posted about this last year, but who doesn’t love a good cocktail? This year, we’ve rounded up some more of our favorites to share.

If you are someone that likes to stick to the classics, adding garnishes that don’t change the flavor of the drink too much are the perfect way to make the cocktail have a fall vibe. Serving champagne with figs, for example, is a great way to incorporate fall colors into a simple and otherwise classic beverage.

It’s always a good idea to have a drink at any event that is great for children and non-drinkers. A simple warm apple cider served with a cinnamon stick and in a hollowed out apple is fun and festive and is sure to please everyone! For more cocktail ideas, remember to check out last year’s post and also check out our gallery to see a great fall wedding where the signature cocktail was sparkling champagne cider. Keep up with us on Pinterest, too, because we are always pinning delicious cocktail ideas!

West Elm in Bakery Square

Just a few weeks ago, West Elm opened in Bakery Square. The Event Group’s offices are located in the East End of Pittsburgh, so we thought we would take a quick field trip to check out this new store. Many of our brides enjoy shopping at West Elm for apartments and homes decorations and furniture, and it is a popular place to couples to register.photo 3 (24)

The store is large and bright with lots of furniture and home accessories.

It was fun to check out their Pittsburgh section. This section was home to locally-sourced gift items, and each item is made by a local Pittsburgh resident. We loved the personalized touches. Many of the gifts would make great wedding gifts to a Pittsburgh couple. This section is unique in that in changes every few weeks so there is always something new to check out.

So if you are ever in Bakery Square and looking for a great place to find a wedding or shower gift, be sure to check out West Elm!
